Making Your Own Snacks from the Garden

Snacks. Kids live them, hec everybody does. My favorite is pretzels. Can't get enough of them. But what's really in them?? Nobody honestly can quote the answer randomly now can they? Think about it. What are you REALLY eating? What are your children REALLY eating? The rest of the family?

There are plenty of snacks in a garden. There are blueberries, strawberries, cantaloupes and their seeds with a pinch of salt, or sugar if you prefer. There are oranges, apples, and many other things. If it's fresh snacks which you want, then be creative. Test out some different things. Grab a home-grown apple, add cinnamon, and sugar, stick it in slices on a tray in the oven for a few minutes, and you've got homemade apple chips.

Also you can bake orange biscuits that are carmelized a bit with butter and brown sugar, cinnamon, and a little bit of that orange rind grated on top. Be sure to put the mixture on the bottom of the pan before bakung. Stuff it in the oven, and keep an eye on it for a few minutes to about half an hour depending on how much you want.

You can even do something with onions, just be creative. Think about what spices, or other condiments or extras you have that are all natural that you could add to your garden mix in order to give everyone delicious food that is nutritional as well.

It's a fact. You'll feel better, sleet better, even look better. Remember, you are what you eat. Have you ever looked at the back of a package to see what's in it? List what's in it. Then go home, and list what you would use out of a garden of your own to make it. Try Onion Rings. Or Eggs.

You'd go to the yard get onions, wash them off real good, then batter them, and dry. You know what they contain. You can name all the ingredients. Now Eggs, and a glass of Orange Juice. Go to your imaginary garden, pick an Orange from a tree, get a fresh egg from the chicken coop, and cook it. Now squeeze your Juice into the glass. You know what your ingredients are in your breakfast? Yep. And if you used alternatives to bagged fertilizer, all the better!! You know exactly what your putting in your body. As a matter of fact, add a few herbs in with those eggs, make me a plate, I want some too.

There are also Blackberries,Peaches, and Watermelon. You can make a Peach cobbler, Blackberry pie, or have Watermelon-ade popsicles. A garden can be a wonderful thing to have. So, if you have one, be creative. Experiment with just some of your fruit and vegetables, not all. Once you find something everybody enjoys write it down as a family recipe you'd be surprised at what you can come up with.
