Medicinal Herbs

Lately, meaning the past ten to twenty years or so, it appears that just about everyone has at one time, or another wanted to and has often times, gotten into the herbal trend. And has used herbs for calming issues, stomach aches, headaches etc ..It's not a terribly bad idea. As a matter of fact, I feel in some ways we would be more well equipped if we used less chemicals in our life.

I mean honestly, I'm not saying prescriptions are bad, they're not all bad. But often times I've wondered if it would be such a bad idea if we, as a society cut down tremendously. So many have side effects which can be very risky.(to say the least). That's not to say medicinal Herbs are the best either, but they are let's say....ummmm less intrusive. Don't get me wrong, some have dangers also to be watched. But it's less the chemicals.

I always pondered the big question: How can we, as a society, fight an issue IN SOCIETY by masking it with another of the same origin?

It can't be done. It's like having cake and ice cream too; you can't have it both ways. You might for a while, but it won't last for long.

There are many medicinal Herbs out there which can be helpful for us. To name a few there is Lavander Oil, which can be dabbed behind the ear, or used just sitting around to add a calming feel as an aroma in your presence. It may also be planted by your front door, allowing to take a deep breath when entering into your house, and feeling relaxed, or plant a small amount of this pretty lilac- colored flower in a nice spot in the house.

There is also another herb, which is uplifting and refreshing to a person at the end of the day. That is Lemon Balm. Although it's said that this herb may be used as a tea and it is soothing and helps calm the soul, I would never suggest that way of use without a doctor's approval. Sometimes herbs can have side effects with medicines being taken, as well as by themselves, but I would suggest maybe having one in your yard or someplace in the house for aroma qualities. Just the aroma should help by providing a calming effect .

Spearmint- It has been said many times, that Spearmint helps with stress, and rightly so. It's very refreshing. Although it may be grown, and contains several benefits, and is used more commonly than thought about. One of its many uses is in toothpaste. But it may also be grown for the fresh aroma in the air, or used as an essential oil in order to combat stress. There are sites to assist in learning how to grow this helper, and my hope is that some of my viewers will learn some of the do's and don't in their spare time.

Being into writing so much, I'd like to see more farmers showing ways in which to cook the vegetables from the gardens of those who have taken to veggies, herbs, fruit, and spices in order to assist the beginners who have changed their lives to healthier eating habits during these very testing times. Maybe some farmers who have homesteads, and have had more experience could bring some fresh out-of-the-garden dinner plates to light.

Back to subject. As with anything for medicinal use, please ask a doctor first. And please be sure what it is you're using.
